MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREAT (6TH-8TH GRADE)

Last year we explored how we are “created to belong” and this year we will expand on how we are all created to connect- to God, to each other, and to ourselves. It will be a weekend full of fun, music, energizers, recreation and enjoying time together as the body of Christ in God’s beautiful creation at the Calvin Center. Middle Schoolers will get a chance to explore the theme in a variety of ways including through workshop time.

WE WILL REGISTER AS A GROUP! Please let Pastor Alex know if you are attending.

Sample of potential workshops:

  • Spirituality center with crafts and activities that connect us to God
  • Improv to help us connect with ourselves and others
  • Breadmaking to prepare for communion
  • Canoeing to connect with our Creator
  • Music to connect with one another in song
  • Fun Group-building games to connect with one another
  • Faith and Technology-Connecting with the World
Keynote/Worship Leadership:

Rev. Aisha Brooks-Lytle
Rev. Brooks-Lytle is a native of Philadelphia and graduate of Temple University. After working as youth director at Wayne Presbyterian Church, she obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. She currently serves as Executive Presbyter of the Greater Atlanta Presbytery, a supportive network of 92 churches and over 400 clergy, which connects, equips and empowers congregations and people to carry out their missions–especially those objectives particular churches cannot accomplish alone.

Rev. Andy Morgan
Rev. Andy Morgan has spent the past four years as minister of UKirk, the collegiate ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the University of Tennessee. He holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Union Presbyterian Seminary and is currently a doctoral student at Emory University. It was at Union Seminary that Andy met his wife, Sarah, who currently serves as associate pastor at Second Presbyterian Church in Knoxville.
