We offer two worship services on regular Sunday Mornings, an 11:00am
Liturgical Worship Service and
8:30am Awakening Worship Service.
During the summer and on 5th Sundays, we have a
Combined Worship Service at 10:00am.
The Liturgical Worship Service
............ .........11:00am in the Sanctuary............ .........
Elements of Worship
Our
Liturgical Worship Service includes many traditional Presbyterian
elements reflecting five actions centered on the Word of God: (1) Gathering
Around the Word, (2) Proclaiming the Word, (3) Responding to the Word, (4) The
Sealing of the Word, and (5) Bearing and Following the Word into the World.
Gathering
Around the Word
Worship begins as we gather and recognize God’s presence among us. The choir
helps us to prepare for worship with a choral introit. We are called to worship,
sing a song of praise, confess our sin together, and are assured of the
forgiveness and new life that God gives us in Jesus.
Proclaiming the Word
We hear God’s word to us as the scriptures are read and proclaimed in a sermon.
During this part of worship the pastor also has a word with the children and the
choir sings an anthem.
Responding to the Word
We respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ, his claim upon our lives, and God’s
activity in the world, by offering ourselves in lives of thanksgiving and
service. During this part of our worship we affirm our faith together, pray for
the church and the world, and give our offerings. We also periodically have
presentations about our ongoing mission projects, commission mission teams,
install church officers, and make other responses to how Christ is calling us to
be disciples
The Sealing of the Word
On the first Sunday of the month or on special Sundays we celebrate the Lord’s
Supper together as we share bread and wine/juice as Christ did with his
disciples on the night of his arrest. All who believe in Christ as their Lord
and Savior are welcome to share with us in the Lord’s Supper. During
this portion of worship we also celebrate the baptism of children brought by
their parents and adults
who are recognizing Christ’s claim
upon their lives and readiness to be members of His church. We
baptize infants and children as a witness to the truth that God’s love claims
people even before they are able to respond. We baptize adults as a witness that
God’s gift of grace calls for a response of faithfulness.
Bearing and Following the Word into the World
As the service comes to a close we commit ourselves to discipleship, receive
the benediction, and depart in song.
Music
We have a full
adult Chancel Choir led by our Director of Music. They offer special music such
as the Introit and Anthem each Sunday. Hymns are sung out of our hymnal. The selections
usually emphasize the theme of the Scripture and sermon. Occasionally, we have
our Children's Choir, Handbell Choir, or Ensembles join us in worship. Our
Organist accompanies on the full pipe organ or piano.
The Awakening
Worship Service

Elements of Worship
Our Awakening Worship
Service has a modern, relaxed feel, yet the structure of the service still contains
traditional Presbyterian elements
centered on the Word of God.
This service often provides opportunities for worshippers to respond to the
message through action, reflection, and prayer. Dress is casual and
coffee and doughnuts are available for the early risers' enjoyment.
We share in communion by
intinction (pictured to the left)
on the first Sunday of each month and/or special occasions.
Music
We have an Awakening Praise
Band led by our Director of Music. Many instruments are involved, including
guitars, drums, brass, keyboard, cello, and violin. Songs are projected on the
big screen via a worship presentation program. The selections
usually emphasize the theme of the Scripture and sermon. Occasionally, we have
our Children's Choir, Handbell Choir, or Ensembles join us in worship.
Combined
Worship Service
.................10:00am in the Sanctuary.................
Elements of Worship
We enjoy Combined Worship during the summer months, as well as on every 5th
Sunday or on special occasions when we desire for the whole congregation to be
gathered together. The service features all of the normal liturgical aspects we
normally have in both services, including responsive readings, the Doxology and
Gloria Patri, and the Lord’s Prayer. The summer services begin the last Sunday
in May and wrap up in August.
Music
The music for our Combined Services includes both familiar hymns and praise
songs.
Songs are projected on the big screen
via a worship presentation program. The selections usually emphasize the theme
of the Scripture and sermon.
The music is led by both our Praise Band and our adult Chancel Choir. Generally
the Choir will take the month of July off.
